Last call for locals to enter legacy calendar competition

Children and families across Glasgow and Lanarkshire have one week left to take pictures of their local Commonwealth Woods and enter them in a competition that could win a display spot in a special calendar.

Images to the ‘Inspired by my local woods’ photography competition, which is run by The Forestry Commission Scotland and forms part of the Commonwealth Woods, a legacy project linked to the Glasgow 2014 Games, must be submitted by Friday, 17 October 2014.

Winning pictures will be used to design a 2015 calendar that will be distributed free with the Glasgow Evening Times.

There is a network of 14 Commonwealth Woods that encourages residents to explore their local woods with a camera in hand to get shots of birds, plants, wildlife and community events throughout the changing seasons.

The calendar will display images from each of the woods from Rawards in Airdrie, Old Mine Nature Park in Fallside to Riccard Johnstone in Motherwell.

Pictures for the Inspired by my Woods photography competition must be taken at one of the network of 14 Commonwealth Woods. For more information visit
