Birds from around the world visit Castlemilk

Castlemilk wood welcomed a range of owl species from across the Commonwealth countries last week [11.02.14].

Owl Magic, a company that cares for birds of prey, brought along and displayed a range of nine owls of varying sizes, colours and origins. People got to learn about each bird and where it comes from.

Over 100 people joined the event, which included a guided walk through Castlemilk’s wood and the chance to hold some of the owl creatures.

Richard Bolton, Community Woodland Officer at Castlemilk, said: “This is one of four Owl Magic events taking place at Castlemilk this year. It’s a great and different event for people, of any age, to take part in at their local wood. It’s an opportunity to learn more about and see such magnificent creatures from across the world up close.”

The next Owl Magic event is taking place on Wednesday, 9 April 2014 at 1.30 until 3.30pm.
